PSG complete Joao Neves signing! Ligue 1 champions win the race to sign Portugal superstar in €70m deal from Benfica
Paris Saint-Germain have confirmed the signing of Benfica’s Joao Neves in a move worth up to €70 million (£60m/$76m).
After a superb season for Benfica in 2023-24, Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester United, and more, were linked with a move for the 19-year-old. Following an intense race, where United had bids rejected for the Portugal international, the Ligue 1 champions have got their man.

According to PSG’s website, Neves has joined on a five-year contract until the summer of 2029. As part of the deal, his compatriot Renato Sanches is heading in the opposite direction on loan with the option to buy. Neves is seen as one of the brightest young stars in Europe and this is quite the coup for PSG.
The defensive midfielder, who has nine caps for his country, said on his PSG transfer: “I’m very proud to be joining Paris Saint-Germain, a very ambitious Club. I’m going to give my all to help my team-mates, to grow at this fantastic Club and to win numerous titles.”
Neves could make his debut for the French giants in their opening league game of the season away at Le Havre on August 16. Incidentally, it remains to be seen what Neves’ arrival will do for PSG midfielder Manuel Ugarte – who has been linked with a move to United this summer.
