  • WHAT HAPPENED?

For the first time since 2004, the USWNT will return to Louisville, Kentucky to play an international friendly. They’ll take on Argentina on Oct. 30 at Lynn Family Stadium, home of NWSL side Racing Louisville.

During the same window, they’ll also take on Iceland in a doubleheader of matches. First, they’ll play Iceland in Q2 Stadium in Austin, Texas on Oct. 24, and then follow it up at Geodis Park in Nashville, Tennessee on Oct. 27.

With three matches in seven days, there will be plenty of rotation, and an opportunity for U.S. coach Emma Hayes to see the depth of her squad.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

The FIFA window will be held in between the end of the 2024 NWSL regular season and the start of the playoffs. With the NWSL Cup scheduled for Nov. 23, Hayes will have a chance to select players at the peak of their form from the domestic league, while European players will be roughly one month into their regular season.

A large squad is expected for the camp, and it will be Hayes’ first real opportunity to call in some players whom she hasn’t yet evaluated.

    DID YOU KNOW?

The last time the USWNT played Argentina was in 2021, a 6-0 win for the U.S. in the SheBelieves Cup. La Albiceleste women did not qualify for the 2024 Paris Olympics.
