Furious Manchester United fans have urged the club to terminate Luke Shaw’s contract after the defender’s latest injury setback.

After missing the majority of last season due to multiple injuries, the English full-back has once again been ruled out for the opening games of the upcoming 2024-25 Premier League campaign due to a calf injury, the Red Devils confirmed on Tuesday.

Shaw’s latest injury setback has left United fans fuming as some demand the termination of his contract by the Manchester club.

A fan named Josh wrote on X: “Put him down”.

A handle named Simply Utd said: “Everything about Luke Shaw is calculated – Puts in the effort for a new contract – Fit enough for England – Declares himself injured for ManUtd when he wants ‘Injured’ before the transfer window closes so he can rinse and repeat until contracted. Absolute joke.”

A fan with the username Ronaldo Brown questioned the defender’s dedication as he wrote: “Luke Shaw’s injuries aren’t just “bad luck” alone, he’s just never ever taken care of his body enough or dedicated himself enough (diet, injury prevention etc). When you’re as talented as Shaw is/was from a very young age, you can just cruise through a career like he has done.”

Meanwhile, an X handle by the name Harry labelled Shaw an “embarrassment”.

Privilege Mufc said: “Just terminate his contract.”

The 29-year-old suffered a hamstring injury in February that forced him to miss the remainder of United’s 2023-24 season, including their FA Cup final victory. Gareth Southgate included him in the Three Lions’ 26-man squad for the European Championship but he wasn’t ready until the quarter-finals and managed to clock just 177 minutes in Germany.
