In an effort to continue on his strong preseason play, winger Amad Diallo has promised to “step up” for Manchester United this season.
After scoring in a preseason friendly against Real Betis, Amad Diallo is adamant that he is prepared to “step up” for Manchester United this year.
In addition to his outstanding performance in a previous friendly against Rangers, Amad scored as United defeated Betis 3-2 and also won a penalty in a vibrant, upbeat performance. He says he’s prepared to “step up” under Erik ten Hag this term. He played on loan for Sunderland for the 2022–2023 season, however he only made 12 first-team appearances for Old Trafford in the previous year.
Since Amad’s contract expires in 2025 at the age of 22, he will need to persuade the Red Devils of his worth if he wants to remain at Old Trafford. He left an impact throughout the preseason and is eager for the new campaign to begin.
Amad stated on the United website, “I feel great. As I mentioned [at the pre-game news conference] yesterday, I believe we were prepared for the game, and I observed my teammates being focused today. I also believe that everyone in training was focused. We’re pleased with the victory. Fighting for the team and supporting the team is vital to me. I’m content with the way I perform my duties on the field.”
“I am happy with [my] goal, but more importantly, I am happy that we won,” he continued. This season, I want to really step it up since I’m so thrilled and driven. I am eagerly awaiting the start of the season.”
On Sunday, United plays its last preseason friendly against Liverpool before hosting Manchester City in the Community Shield. Fulham is their first Premier League opponent.
